M is for Miniatures

Style by Emily Henderson is having a dollhouse Design Challenge. I don't know about you, but I had a thing for miniatures at one time in my life. It happened to coincide with the miniature age of my daughter, Talia and with a specific Christmas gift in the year 1996 when she was 9. Below you will discover the ensuing fruits of our labor, accomplished over the course of two years. She and I assembled, glued, painted, papered and shopped for all of it. (Electrifying it required some help.) Without sounding obsessed, it really was a lot of fun. To participate in Emily Henderson's Challenge, I unearthed the behemoth from the bowels of the basement, dusted it off, and re-decorated the interior spaces as we, mother and daughter, had done so lovingly (and sometimes, not so lovingly) together.
That last word is the essence of what makes this dollhouse so beautiful to me. Enjoy the tour!

Absolutely beautiful! What a wonderful project for you to share together. And what detailed little spaces you made. Keep it out of the basement, Maria. Don't put it back in the dust bin. No matter if your daughter is too old to play with it—no one is ever to old to enjoy the delight of this treasure you have created together. Display it. Enjoy it. I sure did here. -heather
